The Pretenders' History
The Pretender’s are a Gospel Lip Sync group. This group is
made up of four young men, Jamie Lilly, age 19 doing the part of
George Younce, Robbie Bass, age 19, in the part of the late Glen
Payne, Ricky Bass, age 14, in the part of Scott Fowler, and Sam
Bass, age 17
(Joind us in Oct. 2006), in the part of Ernie Haase.
Former youth director Mr. John Hart of the Open Door Church in
Shady Spring, WV picked these young men.  Meant to be a one
time only show for a youth banquet in May 2000 the group was
asked to perform for the rest of the church again on Sunday
morning.  That is how they got started in this amazing journey for
the Lord.
Most of the songs they use are by the Southern Gospel group
The Cathedrals, and Signature Sound Quartet.    The songs
include, A Wonderful Time Up There, Sinner Saved By Grace, I
Can See The Hand and Oh, What a Savior, and many more.
They know 49 songs and are learning more.  They perform at
several different churches of different denominations in many
parts of Southern WV.  They have participated in several benefits
for organizations such as Hospice, The American Cancer Society,
Helping Hands Clinic, and Children’s Miracle
Network.

They have traveled to other states as well, including Paintsville &
Louisville KY, Covington VA., Henderson NC.,  Orlando Florida,
and have had the honor of performing with Signature Sound
Quartet in Anderson Indiana, and Parkersburg, WV.
The Pretenders are planning on adding more songs and with the
help of there parents and family and friends who like to travel with
them will continue to travel to as many places as the Lord leads
them.
